Long term lets in Poole

Furnished homes in Poole let for 28 nights or more, bills included, to hospital staff, marine contractors and people relocating, through the Flexiestays platform. Our own apartments are one stop away in Bournemouth.

  • 130 properties managed
  • Since 2018 letting in Bournemouth

A long term let in Poole, in the Flexiestays sense, is a furnished home for 28 nights or more with the bills included and no fixed term. It suits people who are in Poole for a reason with an end date: a hospital placement, a yacht build, a course at the RNLI college, a relocation. The group's apartments are in Bournemouth; in Poole we let landlords' furnished homes the same way. The whole service is on our long term lets page, and the town on our Poole area page.

Where to stay: Bournemouth apartments or a Poole home

The group's 130 apartments are in eight buildings in central Bournemouth and on the West Cliff, in BH2, all with parking, Wi-Fi, council tax and gym access included. From there Poole is a short train ride from Bournemouth station or a drive along Poole Road. They are listed on property to rent in Bournemouth.

If you need to be in Poole itself, landlords' furnished flats and houses are let through the same platform:

  • Longfleet and the town centre for Poole Hospital and the station.
  • Hamworthy for the port and Sunseeker's yard.
  • Oakdale, Creekmoor and Canford Heath for the industrial estates, with drives for vans.
  • Parkstone for both towns by train; see long term lets in Parkstone.

How a landlord's Poole flat is let this way

The owner furnishes the home to a standard a guest can live in for months: a bed for each person, a kitchen, a washing machine, a table to work at and broadband. We check the lease, the mortgage terms and the insurance, then list it on the Flexiestays platform, Bournemouth's number one for winter and long stays, alongside the group's apartments. We vet each guest, agree the dates and the agreement, and handle arrival, inventory and departure. Flexiestays charges 8% on the bookings it brings to managed properties.

How it differs from a tenancy

A tenancy gives the tenant a home with no end date under the Renters' Rights Act. A long stay is a serviced let for a set period to someone whose main home is elsewhere or whose stay has a known end. If a guest would make the flat their only home, a tenancy is the honest answer, and letting agents in Poole arranges that. Our guide to long stays and tenancies explains the line.

Winter, council tax and the other options

From November to March long stays fill the months when Poole's holiday trade is quiet: see winter lets in Poole. A furnished home nobody lives in can attract BCP Council's 100% council tax premium, at the time of writing, which an owner should weigh. For management of a tenancy see property management in Poole; for a figure, property valuation in Poole; for a sale, selling your property in Poole. Bournemouth's version is at long term lets in Bournemouth.

The local market

The Poole property market

Poole is a harbour town with two property markets. The peninsula, the cliffs and the harbour shore carry some of the highest prices in the country; the town centre, Parkstone and the suburbs inland are where most people rent and buy. The hospital, the port, the boatyards and the grammar schools bring tenants and buyers all year, and the beaches add a second-home market on top.

Poole has a steady flow of people who need a furnished home for weeks or months rather than a twelve-month tenancy. Doctors, nurses and agency staff take placements at Poole Hospital on Longfleet Road. Engineers and fitters work on yacht builds at Sunseeker and on projects at the port. RNLI staff and trainees come to the college beside Holes Bay. Families relocating for a job, or between selling one house and buying the next, want somewhere to live near the schools while they look.

The homes that suit them are practical: a flat in Longfleet a walk from the hospital and the station, a house with a drive in Oakdale or Creekmoor for a contractor with a van, a flat near Parkstone station for someone working in both towns.

A long stay is not a tenancy. It is a furnished, serviced let with bills included and no fixed term, and the agreement has to match the stay: someone who makes the flat their only home may be a tenant whatever the booking says.

Who rents and buys in Poole

  • Hospital and healthcare staff. Poole Hospital recruits doctors, nurses, locums and agency staff on placements of weeks or months. They want a furnished flat with parking within reach of Longfleet Road, and they rent in every month of the year.
  • Marine, port and manufacturing. Sunseeker, the RNLI, the port and the industrial estates bring engineers, fitters and contractors for the length of a build or a project, and head office staff who relocate with a family following on.
  • Grammar school families. Families move into Poole for the two grammar schools and the primaries that feed them, which keeps three and four-bedroom houses in Oakdale, Canford Heath, Broadstone and Lower Parkstone in demand to rent and to buy.
  • The harbour and second homes. Sandbanks, Canford Cliffs and Lilliput sell to buyers from London and the Home Counties who want a harbour view, a mooring or a beach on foot. Prices there set the ceiling for the whole town and give landlords a resale market.
  • Commuters and relocations. The main line puts Bournemouth, Southampton and London within reach, so people moving for a job at Poole's employers or in Bournemouth rent furnished for a few months before they buy.

FAQs

Long term lets in Poole: questions

Do you have furnished apartments to rent in Poole?

The Flexiestays group's 130 properties are in central Bournemouth and on the West Cliff in BH2, a short train or bus ride from Poole, and can be booked for 28 nights or more with bills included. In Poole itself we let landlords' furnished flats and houses the same way. Register with us and we tell you what is free.

What is included in a long stay?

In the group's apartments: electricity, gas, water, fibre Wi-Fi, council tax, TV licence, parking and gym access, with bed linen, towels and a fully equipped kitchen. A landlord's home in Poole is listed with what its owner includes, which is usually the bills and broadband so the guest sees one price.

Is a long stay the same as a tenancy?

No. A long stay is a furnished, serviced let for a set period, with a cleaning and security deposit and no fixed-term lock-in. It suits people whose main home is elsewhere or whose stay has a known end. Someone who makes the property their only or main home may be a tenant, so we use the right agreement for each stay. This is not legal advice.

Can my furnished Poole flat be let this way?

Often, yes. Flats near Poole Hospital, the stations and the boatyards suit stays of one to several months. It depends on the lease, your mortgage and insurance, and the council tax position, which we go through with you first. The flat is then listed on the Flexiestays platform, Bournemouth's number one for winter and long stays.

Who books a month in Poole?

Hospital doctors and nurses on placements, contractors at Sunseeker and the port, RNLI staff and trainees, people relocating for work, households placed by an insurer while their home is repaired, and families between homes. Most book because work or a move has a known end date.

How long can I stay?

From 28 nights, with no fixed maximum and no lock-in. Guests in the group's apartments stay on average more than 19 nights across all bookings, and many long-stay guests extend. For a landlord's Poole home, the length is agreed with the owner before the stay is confirmed.

I've had a really positive experience

I've had a really positive experience with the Airbnb building services, and I'd especially like to recognise Nat, Jack, and Reece for how helpful, friendly, and professional they are. They're always approachable, responsive, and willing to go the extra mile to help resolve any issues or answer questions. Their attitude makes a real difference and creates a welcoming experience for residents and guests. A special mention has to go to Natalie, who has been exceptionally helpful. She is consistently kind, attentive, and proactive, and always makes sure things are dealt with properly. Her dedication and willingness to help really stand out and are very much appreciated. Thank you to the whole team for all your hard work, it definitely doesn't go unnoticed!

Lovely and cosy apartment in the centre

Lovely and cosy apartment in the centre of Bournemouth, and managing to still be quiet. Close to the train station (and buses), big Asda superstore, town centre, park and the beach. I have stayed so far in 2 different apartments in the same building on 2 separate occasions. Both, lovely decorated, with everything one may need for a short or longer stay. A kind of apartment you just want to stay in the whole day! I would definitely recommend.
