Selling a house in Queens Park is selling a family home to a family: people who will judge it on the bedrooms, the garden, the drive and how life works there, and who often plan the move around a school year. We sell homes here from our office at 557 Charminster Road, about a mile away. This page is the Queens Park detail behind our sell your property service.
How Queens Park houses sell
Detached houses on the avenues. Four and five bedrooms, gardens, drives, often extended. Sold on space, condition and the street.
Houses by the park or the course. A garden backing onto green space is the feature buyers ask about first, and it is worth leading the listing with.
Large semis. Edwardian and interwar, sold to families moving up from smaller houses nearby.
Flats in divided houses nearer Charminster, sold to first-time buyers and downsizers on the lease as much as the rooms.
Presenting a family house
Family buyers picture how they will live in a house, so help them. Make every bedroom a bedroom, with a desk in one if you can, clear the kitchen surfaces, and show the garden at its best: mown, edged, with somewhere to sit. Sweep the drive and clear the garage enough to show its size. Repair the small things a survey will list, from a dripping tap to a sticking sash.
Our marketing
Professional photographs and a floor plan covering every floor and the garden, a listing on the portals, and direct contact with buyers registered with us, including relocating families who first came to us looking for a house to rent. The listing gives the facts family buyers ask: bedrooms and bathrooms, the garden's size and aspect, parking, the walk to the park, Castlepoint, the Wessex Way and the hospital. We have no homes for sale listed yet, so every buyer we contact has registered for a reason.
Timing and the chain
Many Queens Park buyers are selling a smaller house elsewhere, so chains are common. Ask buyers early about their own sale and mortgage, and keep in touch with the chain through to exchange. Relocating buyers who are renting first may be chain-free. Our guides on how to sell your home and conveyancing explained set out each stage.
Before you decide
A property valuation in Queens Park gives a sale and a rental figure, so you can compare selling with letting through letting agents in Queens Park or property management in Queens Park. A furnished house can earn while you decide through long term lets in Queens Park or winter lets in Queens Park. The Queens Park area page describes the area, and sell your property in Bournemouth covers the town.
The Queens Park property market
Queens Park is a leafy residential area between Charminster and Castle Lane, built around one of Bournemouth's largest parks and its public golf course. Large detached Edwardian and interwar houses let to families and senior professionals on long tenancies and sell to families moving up, often for the schools and the quick road out on the Wessex Way.
Queens Park's sales market is a family market. The buyers are mostly:
Families moving up from smaller houses in Charminster, Winton, Moordown or Springbourne, who want four or more bedrooms, a garden and a drive, and often plan around school places, including the grammar schools near Castle Lane.
Relocating families, moving to Bournemouth for a senior post at the hospital, the universities or a larger employer, who may rent first and buy once they know the area.
Downsizers occasionally, for the smaller houses and the flats in divided houses nearer Charminster.
What sets the price is the house's size and condition, the garden, the drive and the avenue it is on. Houses backing onto the park or the golf course, or on the quietest avenues, are in a class of their own. Most houses are freehold; buyers' surveys on Edwardian and interwar houses focus on roofs, chimneys, wiring, damp and any extensions or loft conversions, so having the papers ready keeps the sale moving.
School places are allocated by the council, not by address alone, so we leave catchment questions to buyers to check.
Who rents and buys in Queens Park
- Families and space. Four and five-bedroom houses with gardens and drives are scarce in Bournemouth, which brings families to rent and to buy here.
- Senior professionals and relocations. Consultants and managers at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital, staff at the universities and people relocating for senior posts rent here for the space and the hospital route.
- Schools. The grammar schools near Castle Lane and the primary schools round about draw families who plan years ahead.
- The park and the golf course. Living beside one of the town's biggest parks and a public course is the reason many buyers choose Queens Park over a seafront flat.

Selling your property in Queens Park: questions
Who buys family houses in Queens Park?
Families moving up from smaller Bournemouth houses and families relocating to the town, both looking for bedrooms, a garden, a drive and the nearby schools. Houses backing onto the park or the golf course draw the strongest interest.
When is the best time to sell a family house here?
Families often aim to move in the summer holidays, so marketing in spring gives them time to complete before September. A well-priced house sells at any time of year, and relocating buyers arrive whenever their new job starts.
Do the schools affect Queens Park prices?
Buyers ask about them, and the grammar schools near Castle Lane and nearby primaries are part of the area's appeal. Admissions are decided by the schools and the council, so we point buyers to the official criteria rather than promising anything.
What paperwork should I have ready?
The title, the EPC, planning and building regulation papers for extensions, loft conversions and window replacements, guarantees for roof or damp work, and boiler and electrical certificates. On a large period house these are what the buyer's surveyor and solicitor ask for first.
Do you have homes for sale in Queens Park?
No homes are listed for sale with us yet. We are taking instructions and registering buyers, so when you instruct us we contact people who have told us what they are looking for, alongside the portals.

Outstanding from start to finish
The apartment exceeded our expectations with its modern design and thoughtful touches throughout. Walking distance to both the seafront and shopping areas made it incredibly convenient. Clear instructions, responsive host. Would absolutely stay here again on our next visit to Bournemouth.
Modern, clean and superbly located
Lovely apartment in very close proximity to Bournemouth town centre and beach. Modern, very clean and well equipped. Onsite parking was a big plus, making it easy to explore the area. The host was very responsive and helpful throughout our stay.
Second stay, and we'll be back
Great apartment at a perfect location. Jack and the team were so easy to deal with. This is our second time at this apartment block and we'll definitely be returning. Clean, well-maintained, and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay.
